Story

Hi Everyone!

I’m aiming to make a difference and fundraising for A4WH (AUSTRALIANS FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH LTD) a cause that is close to my heart as a pelvic health physiotherapist, I would love to make a difference for Women in Nepal.

A4WH current focus is to raise funds to build a Mothers and Children’s hospital in Dolakha, in the region of Cheriot in Nepal. They have succeeded in raising 95% of their $2,100,000 target and the hospital is currently under construction.

Visit their website to learn more about the project

https://a4wh.org/

Did you know that in Nepal a woman dies in labour every 4 hours and a baby, every 15 minutes. The large majority of these deaths are preventable. A4WH aims to make pregnancy and childbirth a safer time for mothers and their babies by providing clinical training in obstetrics and gynaecology to Nepalese doctors, nurses, and midwives.

In Nepal 200,000 women suffer with genital prolapse. Prolapse results from the pelvic organs falling through the vagina, usually following childbirth. Prolapse can result in incontinence, difficulty walking and sitting and painful intercourse.

A4WH “Prolapse Down Under” was established in 2010 as an initiative to bring relief to the large number of underprivileged women who suffer the indignity of pelvic organ prolapse and A4WH actively seeks to bring hope and restoration to the lives of thousands of women who would otherwise be abandoned to despair.

I plan to trek in Nepal in November, with my husband Geordie, to visit the hospital and see the work of Dr Ray Hodgson and A4WH team. To learn more about  A4WH read Dr Ray’s book “Heartbreak in the Himalayas” https://a4wh.org/dr-rays-book/

My fundraising goal is $10,000.00 and would really appreciate it if you could help me reach it. Any donation, big or small helps! Click the link below to view my fundraising page and donate.

Help do even more by ‘liking’, leaving a ‘comment’ and ‘sharing’ my page too. Every little bit helps to reach my target of $10,000.00. Thanks for helping me make a difference!

Please support my efforts by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice. Thanks so much for your support!

A4WH (AUSTRALIANS FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH LTD)

Help us build our Mothers & Babies Hospital in Nepal.

Australians for Women’s Health (A4WH) was founded in 2010 by Gynaecologist Obstetrician, A/Prof Ray Hodgson. The objective of A4WH is to improve the appalling state of women’s health in Nepal. The magnitude of women’s reproductive health problems in Nepal is enormous. This is largely due to the very limited availability of health services. A4WH undertakes regular medical and surgical ventures in Nepal to provide treatment to underprivileged women and to train to local doctors, nurses and midwives. Their latest project is the building of a 35-bed hospital for mothers & babies in eastern Nepal.  This will become a major training centre for local medical staff.
A4WH is registered with Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and is fully transparent with all finances. There are no religious affiliations.

A4WH has two major arms within Nepal:
Maternal Health – to reduce very high levels of maternal and perinatal mortality In Nepal, a mother dies every four hours and a baby dies every 20 minutes. Most of these deaths are preventable through relatively simple measures.
Genital Prolapse – to treat and prevent very high levels of genital prolapse. Severe prolapse is distressing to women, both physically and emotionally. Prevention and treatment of this pervasive disease is paramount.
